Notepik vs Sembly AI

A Sembly alternative with hours instead of credits, and one price for the team

Sembly pitches itself as the AI meeting agent for client-facing professional services: notes, tasks, and finished deliverables such as follow-ups, decks and reports. Notepik does the meeting part and stops there. It writes up your calls with decisions and owners, keeps everything searchable, and charges one price per workspace. Here is how the two compare, and where Sembly is clearly the better fit.

Why teams pick Notepik over Sembly AI

01

Hours, not credits

Sembly meters its AI work in credits. Each user gets a monthly allowance, which expires unused at the end of the month on the Basic and Pro plans, and extra credits can be bought. Meeting hours are unlimited on the paid plans, so credits are the number that actually runs out.

In our view credits are hard to budget, because you cannot tell in advance what a summary, a chat or a deliverable will use. Notepik counts one thing, hours of meetings recorded. When a plan's hours are used, new processing pauses until next month, with no overage charge, no credits to top up and nothing deleted.

02

Priced like a team, not like a row of users

Sembly's Basic plan covers one user, and Pro and MAX are priced per user, with plan sizes that run from a handful of people to hundreds. That suits a firm that adds consultants one at a time. It is more arithmetic for a small team that simply wants everyone to see the same notes.

Notepik is one price per workspace. Each plan includes a number of seats and a number of meeting hours, and every paid plan includes every feature. Compare the per-user price on Sembly's pricing page, multiplied by your team, with the plan on our pricing page that fits your hours.

03

Shaped like a meeting, not like a deliverable

Sembly's world is clients, brand packages, decks and reports, and its plans cap how many clients and brand packages you can set up. For a professional services firm that billing structure is the product.

Notepik has no client records or brand packages to configure. A meeting belongs to a workspace, you tag it by client or project, and a template decides how it is written up. Ten ready-made templates cover one-to-ones, kickoffs, retrospectives, hiring interviews, leadership meetings and sales calls, and you can write your own.

04

Decisions, owners and a memory for recurring meetings

Every Notepik write-up lists the decisions and the action items, each with a suggested owner and a due date, which you can assign, tick off or push to Slack, Asana, Trello, ClickUp or HubSpot. For a recurring meeting, Notepik shows what the previous one left open and emails you that brief before the next call, only when there is something open.

Follow-up email drafts are written from the summary and never sent for you.

05

A visible bot, a Chrome tab recorder and your language

The Notepik bot is always visible in the participant list. The Chrome extension records a browser tab with no bot in the call, and because it does not announce itself it asks you to confirm you will tell the other people first. The consent page explains how. The app is available in English, French and Arabic, with the Arabic layout mirrored.

Where Sembly AI is the better choice

Going by what Sembly's own site says, here is where it is ahead.

Finished deliverables for client work

Sembly turns meetings into client follow-ups, on-brand decks and documents, and reports across meetings. Notepik writes the meeting up and gives you a follow-up email draft, and that is where it stops.

In-person meetings, proxy attendance and voice commands

Sembly has an offline transcription app for in-person conversations, can attend a meeting you cannot, and lets you add tasks or decisions by voice during a call. Notepik has no mobile or desktop app, and its extension only records browser tabs.

Hours, history and compliance

Paid Sembly plans include unlimited meeting hours and history that runs up to unlimited on MAX. Sembly also lists SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and Microsoft 365 Certified status, HIPAA on MAX and Enterprise, and custom SSO and audit logs. Notepik has none of those certifications yet.

More transcription languages

Sembly states transcription in 45+ languages. Notepik transcribes in the language a meeting is held in but does not publish a language count.

What it costs: hours versus credits and seats

Sembly has a free trial and then Basic, Pro, MAX and Enterprise. Paid plans are priced per user per month, with a lower rate when billed yearly, and each user gets a monthly allowance of AI credits. Meeting hours are unlimited on the paid plans, and history, the number of clients and the number of integrations all grow by plan. The figures change, so read Sembly's pricing before you decide.

Notepik has a free plan with no card and paid plans priced per workspace, with every feature in every paid plan. The plans below are pulled live from our pricing. Set the one that fits your hours and seats against Sembly's per-user price multiplied by your team.

Sembly AI vs Notepik: questions people ask

Is Notepik a good Sembly AI alternative?
For teams that want meetings written up with decisions and owners, one workspace price and hours instead of credits, yes. If you need client decks and reports generated, an offline app for in-person meetings, or SOC 2, HIPAA and Microsoft 365 certification, Sembly is the better fit.
Is Notepik cheaper than Sembly?
It depends on your team size. Sembly prices per user and gives each user a monthly credit allowance, and Notepik prices per workspace with a set number of seats and hours. Compare the two pricing pages with your own headcount.
Does Notepik use credits?
No. Notepik counts hours of meetings recorded and nothing else. If a plan's hours are used, new processing pauses until next month, with no overage charge.
Can Notepik record in-person meetings?
Not on its own. Notepik has no mobile app. You can record a meeting with any recorder and upload the audio or video, up to 2 GB, and it is written up the same way. For offline in-person recording, Sembly has a dedicated app.
Which meeting platforms does Notepik support?
The bot joins Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Webex, the same four as Sembly, and the extension records any call in a Chrome tab. See Zoom, Google Meet, Teams and Webex.
Is Notepik SOC 2 certified?
No. Sembly states SOC 2 Type II, and Notepik does not hold it or ISO 27001, and offers no HIPAA agreement. Notepik is encrypted in transit and at rest and isolates each workspace. See the security page.
Can I try Notepik next to Sembly?
Yes. A free Notepik workspace needs no card, so you can run both on a few calls and compare the write-ups.

See the write-up on your own next call

Start on the free plan with no card, send the bot to a real meeting or record a browser tab, and read what comes back a few minutes later. If it is not better for your team, you have lost nothing.
